These are North American Aviation Standards p/n: 5P1 Data Plates made for identifying part numbers and serial numbers for various airframe components on WWII era North American Aviation aircraft such as AT-6 Texan, P-51 Mustang and B-25 Mitchel aircraft. These have been made to original print out of aluminum. During WWII they were made with both phenolic and aluminum. These are aluminum! They are 1-9/16” wide x 1-7/8” tall x .032 thick.

Looking at AT-6 components, I found them on wings, center sections, ailerons, flaps, rudders, tailcones, tubular frames and other components. Some had 4 rivet mounting holes in the corners and some had 2 rivet mounting holes in center top & bottom like these. I was told that the P-51 Mustang uses 15 of them.
