Heading down the channel we see the town of Ketchikan and the cruise ship port off our left side. A light rain is falling as the late afternoon gloom sets in.
Here we are turning onto final approach for the turf strip at Antelope Ranch. The extremely low approach airspeeds of the PC-12 coupled with its excellent short field capabilities make the PC-12 an exciting “high tech” bush plane.
The Antelope Ranch is one of the many scenery features included in the Misty Fjords package. A nice effect as the sun sets are the smoking barrels that billow smoke delineating the landing area. We have quite a bit of cross wind and don’t forget to mind the trees at both ends of the runway!
After landing I taxi over to the small hangar. As smoke wafts from the Quonset hut building I open the doors to disembark my passengers. This would be a great field to fly any bush plane from.
With the passengers unloaded I take to the skies once more. The PC-12 does a great job getting into and out of these smaller strips.
