Aircraft with low-frequency, throaty engines are particularly well served by the ButtKicker. Flying the Beaver in FSX is a fantastic experience as you close the throttle and the low throb of the engines wells up and rumbles through your chest. I started out very skeptical of the ButtKicker, but the more and more I felt it bring sims alive I realized that my doubts were shedding away with each passing minute of gameplay.
Another sim that absolutely shines with the ButtKicker is the IL-2 series. These big bore radial and in-line engines sound and feelsuper powerful when the thrum of the cylinders reverberates up through the chair. Anti-aircraft explosions that hit very near your aircraft are actually frightening as they buck the chair. Firing the slow firing, large caliber weapons shakes the seat and makes you feel like you are straddling the barrels. Words really can’t describe it, you have to feel it. If you have the chance to get to an expo or demo, I encourage you to give it a whirl because you probably won’t believe me until you experience it.
