Conclusion

DCS: A-10C Warthog was an ambitious undertaking and it shows: the simulation, as delivered, is a monumental achievement, but some of the fine points still show some rough edges. The average gamer may not mind minor glitches or superficial inconsistencies but DCS: A-10C Warthog is not a game the average gamer will pick up. Missing features like the multiplayer datalink or track repeatability can easily sour an otherwise perfect experience for the simulation perfectionist. I expect there will be some folks who will spend time on various forums complaining how this or that feature is broken or how that or this thing isn’t modeled perfectly correctly to the tiniest gnat’s behind, but in the meantime I’ll be with the rest of the crowd dropping ripple loads of Mk82AIRs on artillery sites, plinking off T-72s with Mavericks, and loving every single minute of it.

Could Be Better

ATC Comms, AI
No remote dedicated server capability
Multiplayer datalink broken

My Recommendations

Buy it if you have to have it. It’s only going to get better.
Wait for the first patches — if you can wait. Eagle Dynamics has proven they support their products (Lock On went Platinum 7 YEARS after the first release!).
Don’t even bother if you need to be an Ace on your first sortie. This simulation is unabashedly proud of its learning curve and ain’t no one going to scale it in one hour.

Whichever way you go, after a few hours with DCS: A-10C Warthog, you will never confuse a game for a simulation again. You may just never be able to go back.
