RARE – CLEAN – AS-IS – SERIAL 4 2320 – “ROLLS RT ONLY” NOTE ATTACHED

This is a vintage PIPER Auto Control III Autopilot Controller, Model 1C338, with a manufacturing stamp dated July 3, 1972. It came from the same legendary A&P mechanic known for salvaging aircraft used during the Pablo Escobar smuggling era—this is the real deal.

There’s a handwritten note attached to the unit that reads: “ROLLS RT ONLY”—possibly meaning it was only engaging or functioning on the roll/right axis at the time it was removed. There’s also a small metal piece taped to it, likely related to mounting or frame alignment.

The back is stamped with Serial Number 4 2320, and overall it appears clean and well-preserved for its age. The mechanic claimed it was working when removed, but it hasn’t been tested by me, so it is sold AS-IS, with no guarantees.
