Mig Alley

Found my CD for Mig Alley, installed ok, updated to the latest patch Mig Alley 123 patch. Started the game, everything looks normal but when I hit the FLY button it hangs on the last screen, the flight does not start. I am running Windows 10. Will continue to troubleshoot but any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Okay I'm going to update the Taliban Fighters this Sunday, though it is kinda too much probably for some, though its just how things go I guess, given the new update fixes an issue which I needed to fix, and get out to players. Anyway things are quiet today, so that's a good thing. I'm flying Clafghan missions unrecorded to see if the Taliban will shoot me with an RPG, and so far they haven't, just to confirm code but the test to make sure seemed repeatable, so I should just enjoy the game and such, and just go with the flow on that one. Anyway, I am trying to get the RPG-7 to accept other sights, as CUP did for theirs, and I think I had an RPG sight in my Weapons Pack as well that fit the RPG. I know I made a sight specifically for it with the Ibex line of sights, but still need to figure out what to do with that one. For Sunday:

If you don’t mind me asking you Mr_Blastman what is your profession ? Doing math in my head instantly would be difficult for me. Very impressive that you can.

I have to do math instantly in my head for my profession, and be able to infer and calculate statistical ratios, relationships and progression at the glance of a page of financial statements.

This sort of work is possible without that, but would take infinitely longer to be good at.


We all have gifts given to us by God, and he wants us to use them. What saddens me is how so many never use their gifts, and instead remain chained to jobs and career paths that don't take advantage of those unique talents.


Also, the problem with how math is taught in school is typically students aren't taught shortcuts to effectively employ math quickly in their minds. Instead they end up convinced its a bunch of junk they'll never need to use, and that's a bummer.

Toronto is officially eliminated, which isn't surprising at this point. They weren't bad this year, they just weren't good enough. Made some smart signings and got great seasons out of Cease and Varland.

But what I want to talk about are Vladdy's remarks about how his enormous contract is not paying him for what he will do, but for what he has done. I can't imagine that is going over well, especially after that season he just produced. That is not how this works. Past performance may set the price, but they are paying you to do that again, or improve.

Just noise? Or a sign of worse to come?

Japan, Germany, Italy were cheating for sure.

Hearts of Iron 4 handles this well, even including the escalator clause, but I almost always get out of it as soon as I can, if I'll be a naval power. Can't have these restrictions when war is in the wind you know

Amazing plane for certain, and its service life is unreal. I wonder what the original estimates were when it first entered service.

Not many weapons systems can match it, especially as it is a fookin' aircraft.

The Browning M2 has it beat however, coming up on 100 years in service.

The point was more that it might not be as fun when there is less to shoot because mobs are dying out of view farther in to the level. Contagion is crazy

Orville started out silly, developed some promise and then lost it just as quickly. I may not bother.

I read this morning the 4th season of Orville is coming late next year. It will be 5 years since season 3 ended August 2022. I don't remember much of the previous seasons. Will need to rewatch it.

I finished the Cursed Mine DLC last night. A strange thing happened in a boss fight. I found Sturm and Drang optional boss, and saw the Moxxi encore board already there. I thought that's strange. Jumped down in the pit, no boss. Climbed back out and paid Moxxi and fought the boss(es). Never have seen this on first attempt.

Level 43 now with Loveless. Panzer you've extended an invitation to join and maybe I will down the line. Do either of you run this main? Not sure others would want to play in a party with her due to the contagion skill. It often carries on through a level, taking out distant groups I haven't even gotten to yet. It's kinda nuts.

This round I've posted laps at Mid Ohio as noted, and DTM 2016 at Zandvoort. I will probably hit the Nordschleife in the hillclimbers and maybe the electric at Road America. If you post any let me know.

Great summary MB. I think Einstein and Newton were probably the smartest guys that walked the earth, especially Newton. Even though I consider myself a fairly intelligent guy but I find it hard to grasp the theory of Relativity, maybe beyond my mental capacity. I secured a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, a lot of math, science, physics and more math but I think Relativity is a whole another science to understand, at least for me, I just don’t get it. One thing I disagree with Einstein on is that he does not believe in the afterlife, otherwise what is the point of life. I believe in God, the spirit in the sky and his Kingdom.

Relativity makes quite a bit of sense once you understand all of the fundamental concepts--so much sense, that any other explanation seems implausible.

However, like all good scientific theories, once you do grasp what General and Special Relativity describe and model, you have even more questions:


1) What actually is Space?

2) Why is the expansion of the Universe accelerating?

and the big one...

3) What makes Gravity operate, and why does it function as a "force" for free?



The last one is a big deal. Isaac Newton, arguably the most intelligent recorded(documented based on works and accomplishments) human in modern times, had a core Law, the Law of Conservation of Energy, where "Energy cannot be created nor destroyed--only transferred."

This Law posits there is no infinite energy in the entirety of the Universe. In fact, later derived from this, the sum of all energy available in the entirety of the Universe has been present since the Big Bang--theorized later by the Catholic Priest Georges Lemaitre. What was still is.

So why does Gravity... gravity, seemingly for free. You can place an object around a gravity well, aka our Sun, or even Sagittarius A, the supermassive black hole center of our Galaxy the Milky Way, and no matter how many others join, the black hole continues to attract and accelerate objects.

Why?

What is giving Gravity this ceaseless energy, when energy cannot be created nor destroyed?


So you see, questions abound. I have theories and possible answers, but I will not digress into those, for now.



Back to your original premise, OP: Relativity. There are two prevailing theories presented by Einstein:

General Relativity - essentially his reworking of Isaac Newton's concept of gravity into a three dimensional deformation of space-time, of which objects "sink" into (or are attracted).

Special Relativity - deals with the merger of space and time, and the relationship between velocity, gravity and time deformation--and frames of reference.



These are beautiful theories, and make a great deal of sense once you grasp the concept of slope/time. Think of space as a linear tick rate--draw a graph on graph paper. As you progress to the right, each number represents a tick--a linear progression. A gravity well exponentially slopes downward, however, along that line. Consider that slope into gravity a change in the trajectory of that former graph line. Now consider you are a traveler walking along that graph line, and then wander into the slope of gravity. The steeper the slope of gravity, the more compressed time becomes, relative to external observers. You, on that line, experience time normally. However, since the line is becoming steeper and steeper, downwards, with respect to the original X axis, you seem to be progressing more slowly to others, who are observing you from the line above you.

This is just one facet. They both have been proven true, in countless experiments. That's how come GPS satellites and even electronics function, properly.


When I was a young, arrogant lad in High School physics, I thought Relativity was hogwash. Years later, I disagree with my former self. It accurately describes a facet of reality, but begs even more questions.



To your last point: "Albert Einstein did not believe in a traditional afterlife or an individual soul surviving physical death."

While he was Agnostic, his theory opened the doors to multidimensionality--the basis for things such as String Theory, etc. Also, consider, that Einstein died at the cusp of the Computer Revolution. All they had prior to this were mechanical computers and their minds. The concept of "The Matrix" hadn't even been concepted yet. That we could be beings trapped in a simulation would have been considered preposterous. I forgive him for this oversight--and like all humans, he wasn't perfect. None of us are. We're quite limited, actually.

He was more interested in the science part of things--what he could test and prove. Philosophy, on the other hand, isn't so much concerned proof, but trying to explain why, within a logical framework.


In my eyes, and not trying to go off topic, God has created the perfect environment for us to dwell in, and one that he has absolute control over what information we have access to. We cannot possibly hope to prove his framework, when he controls the spigot of input data our senses receive.

First I can say is that the treadstarter is totally wrong when it comes to describing how it is flying in the airlines.

Sadly , that` s how many people regard the proffesion. I get a little annoyed when people are comparing us with bus drivers.

I was pretty lucky working in an airline with very varying destinations. Everything from 25 minutes to 7 hours for the most part.

On the shortest sectors we have just a few minutes on level before descend. On longer flights not so hectic, but always something to do.

Frequency changes ,level chanfges,navigation, monitoring systems. Weather and wind. .Always staying ahead.

I enjoyed my job . Many variables . You could almost say that there was a new thing every day.

Of course the workload varied. Crossing the Atlantic where you basicly report when passing LAT/LONG could be a little boring, but one has to be on the alert anyway.

Also time for some chit chat. That depended on who my college was. People are different. And you know when you can talk and when not to.

The "Steril cockpit" concept was introduced early in my career. The old guys had a hard time accepting it,but

when CRM (Cockpit Resource Management) training was introduced they were forced into it anyway.
