“Vasily, abort! Enemy fighter close!” |
I pop my centerline tank loose. The F-16 is only ten kilometers away. |
I flip into helmet mode and using the 36-Sh electro-optical system, I fire an R-73 just as the F-16 locks me up.“One shooter! Fox three!”He immediately takes evasive action, popping flares. |
I follow the shot, thumbing up my R-27 and lock him with my N-019 radar. |
The R-73 goes wild, and I remember Ethiopia and the Ukrainian mercenaries, as I call fox one and release the R-27 from a suicidal three kilometers distance. If it misses, I have one R-73 left and I will not fail. Two Canadians may be dead now, because they tried to protect us. I will avenge them.
With cold satisfaction I alert the FSB section at Gudauta. The Canadians will be glad indeed to hear that we have one of the pilots who shot their comrades out of the sky. Now, I have evened the score.
